Abstract

This research aims to explore the ethnomathematical forms contained in the Pendet Dance movement and relate them to the concept of geometry in mathematics learning. The Pendet dance as a Balinese cultural heritage not only has aesthetic and religious value, but also stores mathematical regularity that can be analyzed through angles, lines, floor patterns, symmetry, and geometric transformations. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, documentation, and literature review. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which included the process of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify geometric elements in dance movements. The results of the study show that the Pendet Dance contains the concepts of horizontal and vertical lines, folding symmetry, two- dimensional flat builds, reflections, and angles in the dancers' formations and movements. These findings show that Pendet Dance can be used as an alternative learning medium in understanding geometry concepts, as well as a means of preserving local culture. This research is expected to be able to motivate the younger generation to get to know traditional culture more as well as realize the relevance of mathematics in daily life.
