This study aims to explore the application of geometry and symmetry concepts in ornamental carvings in the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) area of Bali from an ethnomathematics perspective. The method applied in this study is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. With data obtained through direct observation of the objects, theoretical studies from literature studies, and photographs from documentation. Analysis was carried out thematically to find variations in patterns, symmetry forms (reflection, rotation, and translation), and geometric regularities in ornamental designs. The results show that ornamental carvings in GWK contain repetitive patterns inspired by elements of flora, fauna, and religious symbols in Balinese Hindu culture. These patterns are displayed through double symmetry and harmonious proportional comparisons. These findings demonstrate the connection between the beauty of carving art, cultural values, and mathematical principles, while also demonstrating the potential of ethnomathematics as a tool for teaching mathematics based on local wisdom.
