Abstract

Learning with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach in Mathematics is very necessary, considering that the development of technological advances in education is so rapid, especially in learning Mathematics. Ethnomathematics as one of the evidence of the development of educational technology advances in Mathematics learning takes an active role in honing and improving students' mathematical abilities at school, namely the concept of Geometry, ethnomathematics is included in one of the elements in STEAM, namely Arts. Students are not only required to learn but are also required to be able to think critically, analytically, logically, and systematically in solving mathematical problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) with Ethnomathematics in Mathematics learning, by providing a description through a literature review approach or literature study in previous research national and international journals which can be downloaded at a database of Google Scholar and National Library related to STEAM and learning using ethnomathematics-based media. The results of the study provide information that the relationship between the STEAM approach and Ethnomathematics in Mathematics learning is mutually sustainable and consequently has a positive, effective, and better effect on improving students' mathematical abilities in the mathematics learning process. Ethnomathematics-based media can also be combined with various models, approaches, and learning theories in learning mathematics. One of them is the STEAM approach so that learning can be more fun and interesting for students.
