Abstract

In learning mathematics, understanding the concept is the most important basic thing. Understanding of mathematical concepts in Indonesia is still relatively low. In the K-13 curriculum, one of the important aspects of learning mathematics is self-confidence because students are active in learning. This article aims to describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts of Pekalongan Islamic Junior High School students in terms of students' self-confidence or self-confidence. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research using test instruments in the form of explanations and facilities and is equipped with interviews as support. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are students who have high self-confidence have high conceptual understanding, students who have moderate self-confidence have moderate mathematical concept understanding abilities and students who have low self-confidence have low concept understanding abilities. self affects students' ability to understand mathematical concepts.
