Abstract

The concept of mathematics sometimes arises naturally through the culture of certain societies, through the knowledge and perspectives of certain ethnic or community groups or individuals, without going through formal education. Mathematics that is imbued with culture (ethnomathematics) will provide a significant contribution to the learning of mathematics. The aim of this research is to describe what mathematical concepts exist in the Minggon Jatinan tradition of Batang Regency and how they can be utilized in mathematics learning. This research is a qualitative field study. With this qualitative approach, the author will provide an overview of the mathematical elements in Minggon Jatinan culture. The researcher has direct contact with the research and acts as a data collector through literature review, interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, data analysis, and data exposition. The results of this research are mathematical concepts found in the Minggon Jatinan tradition of Batang Regency, which include mathematical elements, statistical concept implementation, social arithmetic concept, comparison concept, and arithmetic sequence concept. These mathematical concepts found in the Minggon Jatinan tradition of Batang Regency can be utilized to introduce and understand mathematical concepts through local culture.
