Abstract

Learning conducted at SD N 1 Pelutan has not maximized learning based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). In addition, the learning that is applied there tends to be teacher-centered. Thus forming students who are less critical and creative in solving the problems faced. This resulted in students not understanding the material being taught and quickly forgetting the material. One of the efforts made to overcome this is to apply the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model which is oriented towards HOTS. This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of PMRI on HOTS. This research can be used as input to improve students' HOTS abilities by applying the PMRI approach. This study used an experimental method using two study groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. The sampling technique is simple random sampling with each sample of 22 students in the control class and the experimental class. The research instrument used an essay test, while data analysis used SPSS version 22. Hypothesis testing using the Independent Semple T-Test showed that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted with  Sig value. 2-tailed by 0.000 <  (0.05). This shows that there is a significant influence between the Indonesian realistic mathematics education approach (RME) on students' higher order thinking skills (HOTS) at SD N 1 Pelutan Pemalang.
