Pengembangan Soal Matematika Berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills pada Materi Aljabar untuk Meningkatkan Prestasi Belajar Siswa pada Kurikulum Merdeka

This study aims to develop math questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) on algebraic material and analyze their effectiveness in increasing student achievement in the Independent Curriculum. The method used in this study is the library method by collecting data from journals and books related to Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based math problems in algebraic material. The results showed that the HOTS-based math questions developed were valid and could be used in learning mathematics. Limited trials show that the problem is effective in increasing student achievement in algebra material. This is indicated by an increase in the average student test score which experienced an increase after using HOTS questions. In addition, most students also gave positive responses to the use of HOTS questions in learning mathematics. In conclusion, the development of HOTS-based math problems on algebraic material can improve student achievement. Therefore, teachers are advised to develop HOTS-based math questions on algebraic material as a strategy to improve student achievement. HOTS questions can be used as an alternative to improve the quality of learning mathematics in schools and assist students in developing higher order thinking skills.
