Abstract

Mathematics education in Indonesia still faces challenges in the era of digitalization and globalization. To overcome these challenges, a curriculum is needed that can meet the needs and demands of the times. Independent Mathematics Curriculum is one alternative curriculum that can meet these demands. The Independent Mathematics Curriculum offers an approach based on skills, problem-solving, and real experiences, which allows students to be more independent and creative in learning mathematics. In addition, technology can be integrated into mathematics learning, so that students can gain a better understanding of mathematical concepts and their applications in everyday life. However, the implementation of the independent curriculum in mathematics learning is still faced with various challenges, such as the lack of understanding and skills of educators in implementing this curriculum. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies and skills needed by educators in implementing the Independent curriculum. This paper will discuss the concept and basic principles of the Independent curriculum, challenges in implementing the Independent curriculum in mathematics learning, and the skills needed by educators in implementing the Independent curriculum in mathematics learning.
