Abstract

Early literacy is an important foundation in early childhood development. Proper literacy stimulation from parents can increase children's interest in reading and literacy skills. Parents can set a good example by reading books regularly in front of 2 their children. Parents can also provide reading materials that are appropriate to their children's ages and interests. Apart from that, parents can invite their children to visit the library and attend literacy events. This research aims to examine the role of parents in stimulating early literacy in young children at the Muslimat NU Jeruksari Tirto Pekalongan Kindergarten. This type of research uses field research. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive and exploratory approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 10 parents and participant observation at the Muslimat NU Jeruksari Tirto Pekalongan Kindergarten as well as documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis. The results of research in the field show that parents already have a high awareness of the importance of early literacy in early childhood. All respondents realized how important it is to apply literacy to their children because early literacy is a foundation that needs to be strengthened from an early age. The role of parents in stimulating early literacy greatly influences a child's future development.
