Abstract

Abstract

The background of this research is the importance of strengthening literacy in early childhood to form a strong foundation for their academic and social development. The family is considered to be the primary and first environment that plays a role in the strengthening of children's literacy. This study aims to explore how literacy enhancement can be done in families. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a literary study approach. Data is collected from a variety of relevant literature, including books, journal articles, and educational documents. Research shows that families can strengthen children's literacy through various activities such as regular reading, holding meaningful conversations, creating an environment rich in literacy, encouraging children to write, providing literacy-based activities, modeling reading and writing behaviour, linking literacy to real life, attending literacy activities in communities, using technology wisely, providing support and appreciation. This activity not only improves children's reading and writing skills, but also develops their love of literacy. This study concludes that strengthening family literacy is an effective strategy to support early childhood literacy development.
