Abstract

The development of technology and education today can affect children's development, especially language development. Although everyone can learn to speak wherever they want, on the one hand there are children who experience developmental delays due to the disorders they have, these children can be considered children with special needs, so they really need special education and therapy. Language acquisition is not a complicated thing for children who are classified as normal. In contrast to children in general, those classified as children with special needs have their own way of acquiring language, the way language acquisition in children with special needs cannot take place quickly, there must be stages when stimulating. This study aims to identify how the teacher's strategy in stimulating second language acquisition in children with special needs (ABK). The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's strategy in stimulating second language acquisition in children with special needs at KB Cempoko Legokclile is that the teacher applies casual chatting activities, storytelling, reading storybooks, watching educational videos, and inviting children to socialize so as to provoke children to make sounds. From this strategy, second language acquisition in students with special needs can increase as evidenced by students being able to say two words, namely (a and ba) in a span of one year
