Abstract

One of the main nutritional problems faced by Indonesian children is stunting. This condition can disrupt a child's development and growth and increase the risk of long-term disease in the future. One of the main causes of stunting is an unbalanced diet during a child's growth period. The research objectives are as follows: 1) Parents must know about balanced nutrition, create menus, and be involved in preparing food. This is an important part of keeping children healthy. Family financial circumstances, access to food resources, and family support influence parents' ability to meet their children's nutritional needs. 2) to find out the nutrients needed for a balanced diet to prevent stunting in children aged 4-5 years. 3) to determine the role of parents in maintaining the nutritional status of children aged 4-5 years. This research was designed to be descriptive qualitative in nature. This study involved two parents and three children, selected purposively. Data collection methods consist of observation, documentation and interviews. The research results show that the role of parents is very important in ensuring their children get a balanced nutritional intake. 1) One important component in maintaining children's health is parents' understanding of healthy and balanced food, as well as their involvement in preparing food, 2) Parents' ability to meet children's nutritional needs is also influenced by family support, access to food resources, and the family's financial situation; knowledge about the nutrients needed in a balanced diet to prevent stunting in children aged 4-5 years, 3) and the role of parents in meeting the nutritional status of children aged 4-5 years. Apart from that, the nutritional needs of parents' height and parents' occupation also influence children's nutritional needs.
