Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem based learning model in improving student learning outcomes in class V MI Islamiyah Galang Pengampon Wonopringgo, Pekalongan Regency. The research method used in this study is the classroom action research method. The subjects of this research were 25 students in class Vl. Data is collected through tests to measure student learning outcomes, observation of student activities during learning, and documentation of class activities and information related to research subjects. The research results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle, the percentage of students who achieved completeness was only 36%. The increase occurred in the first cycle, the test results showed an increase with 58% of students achieving completeness. Improvement continued to occur in the second cycle with student completion results of 76%. The use of the problem based learning model has proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes during the learning process. Students become more involved and able to think critically. Apart from that, this problem based learning model can develop students' creativity and thinking.
