The advancement of digital technology demands that teachers adapt their approaches to assessment and evaluation. However, the shift from conventional to digital methods is not always smooth, especially in primary schools located in non-urban areas. This study aims to identify the challenges faced by fifth-grade teachers at SDN 04 Kebondalem, Pemalang, in implementing digital assessments, as well as to explore the underlying causes and coping strategies. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal several obstacles faced by teachers, including limited infrastructure, network issues, lack of technological training, and low digital literacy. Despite these challenges, teachers attempt to overcome them by using personal data connections and receiving limited support from the school. The study concludes that the success of digital assessments heavily depends on infrastructure readiness and the continuous development of teachers’ digital competencies. This research provides contextual insights into the implementation of digital assessments at the elementary school level in non-urban areas.
