Abstract

Analytical thinking is needed in life especially when solving narrative problems. There are many factors that can affect a student’s thinking ability, one of the is math anxiety. This study aims to find out the achievement of students in solving the problems of narrative tests in the indicators of analytical thinking seen from math anxiety. This study was qualitative research with a descriptive method. The instrument used was a math anxiety questionnaire, an analytical thinking test, and an interview guideline. The results showed that students with a low category of math anxiety only reached indicators of differentiating and didn’t reach the indicators of organizing and attributing, and the students with a high category of math anxiety didn’t reach all indicators of analytical thinking. Moreover, students with low math anxiety are better than students with high math anxiety at solving narrative problems.
