Analisis Kesulitan Siswa Gaya Belajar Visual dalam Menyelesaikan Soal HOTS Materi Kubus dan Balok
ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' DIFFICULTY WITH VISUAL LEARNING STYLES IN SOLVING HOTS QUESTIONS ON CUBES AND BLOCK
Keywords:
student’s difficulties, learning styles, visuals, NEP, HOTSAbstract
This study aims to analyze student’s difficulties in solving HOTS questions on cubes and blocks. Learning styles are categorized into: visual, auditory and kinesthetic, but in this study the focus is on visual learning styles. The subjects of this study were 27 junior high school in grade VIII at Bustanul ‘Ulum School. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection uses questionnaires, tests, interviews and field notes. Data analysis refers to the Newman's Error Procedure (NEP) consisting of 5 types of errors, namely reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skills errors, and encoding errors. The result shows that around 14,81% of the students had difficulties in comprehension, 56,79% in transformation, 80, 24% in process skills, and 4,94 %in encoding. Students had the most difficulty at C5 and C6 levels questions. This is due to the inability of students to translate from verbal language into mathematical language or symbolic language and students are less stimulated with HOTS questions in mathematics.
