Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology is increasing rapidly causing all areas of life to be affected including the education sector. The use of chatbots as learning media in the classroom is one way to take advantage of the development of artificial intelligence. This study aims to determine the characteristic needs of chatbots that will be developed with the subject matter of quadratic functions. This study uses descriptive research within the defined stage’s limits (problem analysis). The subjects of this study were teachers and students of class X SMA N 1 Wiradesa. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the use of learning media was still minimal, learning in class was monotonous and boring, and learning media was needed for quadratic function material. The results of literature studies and field studies show that it is necessary to develop chatbots with scaffolding on quadratic function material as an innovative independent learning alternative. It is hoped that the development of chatbots with scaffolding will make learning more efficient and students better understand the quadratic function material well.
