LONG DISTANCE LEARNING - BASED CHARACTER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AT INDONESIAN OPEN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

In general, student are tuaght character education throught habituation with classroom leraning activities and educators as role model, in contrast to Indonesia Open University that organize distance learning activities, of course, have their own strategies to develop character education for their students. The purpose of this study is to find out how the strategy of Universitas Terbuka to develop character education in distance education bases. The method used is library research, all data used are obtained from the wibsite www.ut.wc.id , module books used in learning, as well as from other written documents. The findings resulting from reseracht at the Indonesian Open University, character education is developed through learning activities (teaching) in the general compusory subject of Islamic Religious Education and of the role of tutors as models and providers of reinforcement by applying refraction to each leraning activity.
