FULL DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM AS AN EFFORT IN BUILDING THE CHARACTER OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

Most people think full-day school will cause boredom and boredom, especially for elementary school-age students. The stigma that is formed is that students will lose playing time at home because a full day, from morning to evening, students are at school. SDIT Bahrul Ulum Kedungwuni Pekalongan is one of the elementary schools that implements full-day school in an effort to develop student character. The purpose of this study is to describe the full-day school's role in shaping the character of students at SDIT Bahrul Ulum. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods in collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that SDIT Bahrul Ulum in implementing the full-day school program has a major role in character building, which is supported by activities and a comfortable and pleasant school environment. The characters formed by the full-day school program are independent,
disciplined, hard-working, religious, and honest.
