The increasing complexity of global social, economic, and environmental challenges requires Islamic educational institutions to provide transformative learning that cultivates discipline, moral integrity, ecological awareness, and social responsibility among students. This study explores how Al-Mahrusiyah Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School embodies sustainable education by organically integrating Islamic values into daily activities and institutional culture. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, documentation, and literature review. The data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model with triangulation and member checking. The findings show that sustainability is reflected in the pesantren’s character-building practices, including clean and modest clothing habits, strict time discipline, and the cultivation of ethical conduct rooted in Islamic teachings. Al-Mahrusiyah Lirboyo also embeds spiritual sustainability through activities such as istighotsah, manaqib, and rotibul haddad, while promoting environmental awareness through communal cleaning (roan) and mindful consumption. Moreover, institutional programs such as bahtsul masail, vocational training, and community empowerment strengthen students’ critical thinking, independence, and socio-economic readiness, demonstrating the pesantren’s role beyond religious formation. The study concludes that Al-Mahrusiyah Lirboyo serves as a culturally grounded model of value-based sustainable education, offering strategic insights for developing Islamic educational frameworks that are both contextually relevant and responsive to contemporary global demands.
