Abstrak

Increasing environmental damage due to irresponsible human behavior requires Islamic education to re-emphasize the role of humans as khalifah fil ardh (prosperer of the earth). This research departs from the urgency of integrating ecological values in Islamic Religious Education learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI). The purpose of this research is to analyze the ecological meaning in QS. Al-Baqarah: 30 and QS. Ar-Rum: 41 and implement it in the formation of students' environmental care character through waste sorting and recycling activities in collaboration with the Pekalongan City Waste Bank. The research method used is qualitative with a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i) and field studies. Data were obtained through observation, teacher and student interviews, and activity documentation. The results of the study indicate that the values of the khalifah in QS. Al-Baqarah: 30 emphasize human responsibility in maintaining the balance of nature, while QS. Ar-Rum: 41 describes the destructive consequences of such negligence. Integrating this understanding through concrete waste management activities fosters students' ecological character traits such as responsibility, discipline, and environmental awareness. In conclusion, reflection on ecological verses from the Quran can serve as a spiritual and ethical foundation for developing Islamic ecopedagogy in elementary education institutions.
