This paper conceptualizes how artificial intelligence (AI) can raise teaching efficiency in Islamic education without displacing the teacher's pedagogical and moral authority. It uses a literature-based conceptual analysis of 15 sources published between 2021 and 2026, covering AI in teaching, teacher competence frameworks, and AI in Islamic religious education. The analysis shows three patterns. First, measurable efficiency gains are concentrated in planning, assessment, and material development, and they are only realized when teachers redesign their tasks rather than automate old ones. Second, existing studies in Islamic education mostly list benefits and risks, and they rarely define efficiency or connect it to teacher development. Third, teacher competence frameworks address technology, pedagogy, and ethics, but they do not yet address the verification of religious knowledge and the continuity of transmission (sanad). The paper proposes a four-component framework: efficiency domains, pedagogical reinvestment, teacher competence, and a values anchor. Four propositions follow from it. The framework redefines efficiency in Islamic education as time that is released by AI and reinvested in mentoring, dialogue, and talaqqi. It offers a basis for empirical testing and for teacher development programs.
