Selling and Purchasing Virtual’s Land in the Metaverse of Muamalah's Legal Perspective

Abstract

This research is motivated by the form of contract used in transactions in the world of Metaverse. Metaverse is a virtual world that facilitates interaction between individuals in 3D using headsets, Augmented Reality glasses and hardware. Metaverse has virtual land for sale. It’s not the physical world, so according to the muamalah perspective, the transactions does not use physical law rules. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the views of Islamic muamalah law on land buying and selling transactions in the metaverse. This research is qualitative with a literature review and online observation with a normative juridical approach. This study concludes that the transactions in the metaverse world according to the Islamic muamalah perspective are permissible.Transactions carried out are between intangible assets using an ijarah contract. Virtual land and crypto, which are based on the 2021 Ijtima 'Ulama MUI fatwa, can be classified as commodities/assets if they meet the requirements.
